August 6th 2010, SAFE partnered with Salvation Army, Harry Chapin Food Bank, and Harlem Heights Foundation to bless those in need as part of the “Free Fridays” campaign to families in the Edisto Lake Apartments of Ft. Myers, Fl.
621 people received a box of food for their family and hot meal.  SAFE volunteers were privileged to give  free manicures to 50 young girls ages 8 -18 as part of an awareness and prevention outreach to girls at risk of organized sexual slavery. Each girl was given information to educate them as to the signs of commercial sexual exploitation and their vulnerability locally.  Parents were given educational information of human trafficking and the presence of SAFE as a local long term shelter with a crisis line.

Thank you to all the participating volunteers!!!  You showed the love of Jesus and made girls your age aware of their great value to the Lord and informed them of the traps of  coercion from strangers, friends, or boyfriends. You made the young girls feel like real treasures amidst the 98 degree weather on a dilapidated basketball court with  smiling faces.  Young people continue to be bold for your generation wherever God gives you opportunity. I appreciate those that were able after the clean up to distribute the last few cans of food door to door and praying for the individuals.
